About Bhakti Music

Kirtan

Kirtan is a beautiful practice with deep roots in the ancient teachings of Bhakti Yoga. Comes from the word, "Sankirtan", which means "chanting together". It is foremost a group-based tradition which brings bliss and uplifts all who participate. And the chanting of Sanskrit holds a Divine vibration which brings transformation to the listeners and ultimately brings us deeper into the essence of unconditional Love.

Tradition

The history of kirtan draws it's roots from the timeless Vedas and has been considered a sacred practice bringing transformation, deepening love and miracles to this planet. We truly learn the depth of kirtan through the lives and stories of the Bhakti Saints, such as Tukaram, Mirabhai, Namdev, Janabai, Kabir, and many more. We learn from them that the fundamental aspect of kirtan is based in the awareness we develop of our eternal relationship with the Divine!
